When I started using the name Gat Creek for this business, my younger brother protested (mostly in jest).  At the age of five, I named the creek that ran behind our childhood home for myself.  As a consolation, our parents named a dog after my brother.  The creek now has long outlived the dog.  I told him that I would name a piece of furniture for him and this is that piece.  “You’re going to name a table ’John’?” he asked.  I told him we would go with his middle name, Ambler.
